Brand Overview

The essence of Cold Case Quest — identity, mission, and positioning

What is Cold Case Quest?

Cold Case Quest is an immersive interactive experience where detectives solve homicide cases through their own phone — real calls, real Instagram messages, real WhatsApp chats, real Telegram conversations. Powered by AI and virtual actors, each case is a unique investigation that blurs the line between reality and fiction.

The user doesn't play a game — they become a detective. They receive calls from suspects, analyze digital forensics, collaborate with Detective Manuel Montiel and the hacker BambiJupiter, and ultimately present their findings to an AI Judge.

Mission

To democratize criminal investigation. To transform passive true crime consumption into active investigation. Every person has a detective inside — we give them the tools, the case, and the courage to find the truth.

Vision

To become the definitive interactive true crime platform globally — where every unsolved story finds its detective, and every detective finds their truth.

SECTION 02

Brand Story

The origin, characters, and narrative arc of Cold Case Quest

The Origin

It didn't start in a boardroom. It started in a dark apartment in Mexico City, where a developer and an investigative journalist realized something: people don't just want to hear crime stories anymore. They want to live them.

Cold Case Quest was born from the idea that everyone has a detective inside. That morbid curiosity that makes you read a Reddit thread about an unsolved case until 3 AM — but now, instead of just reading, you can do something about it.

The founder — a developer with a background in investigative journalism — built the first prototype using LeadConnector/HighLevel, combining AI voice agents, automated messaging, and a custom narrative engine to create the world's first fully interactive true crime investigation experience delivered entirely through the user's own devices.

The Philosophy

Cold Case Quest operates on a single principle: immersion is everything. The moment a user signs up, they are no longer a user — they are a detective. Every call, every message, every piece of evidence is designed to maintain the illusion that this is real. The AI adapts the narrative based on the detective's decisions. No two investigations are exactly the same.

// CORE PHILOSOPHY
"You are not playing a game.
You are solving a case."

Competitive Analysis

Strategic positioning in the true crime + interactive entertainment landscape

Cold Case Quest operates at the intersection of true crime, interactive gaming, escape rooms, and alternate reality games (ARGs). There is no direct competitor that offers the same combination of real-platform immersion, AI-driven narrative, and forensic authenticity.

SWOT Analysis

STRENGTHS

  • Unique market position — no direct competitor
  • Real platform immersion (phone, social media, messaging apps)
  • AI-adaptive narrative per detective (no two same experiences)
  • Attractive pricing ($34 vs $40-60 for physical alternatives)
  • Zero physical inventory — fully digital delivery
  • Built on proven LeadConnector/HighLevel infrastructure

WEAKNESSES

  • Third-party API dependency (WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram)
  • Requires active social/messaging accounts from users
  • High technical complexity to scale
  • Brand new — zero market recognition
  • Limited to English-speaking audience initially

OPPORTUNITIES

  • Explosive true crime content market growth (podcasts, Netflix, YouTube)
  • Creator economy — streamers looking for unique content
  • Expansion to Spanish-speaking market (LATAM, Spain)
  • Corporate team-building, education, forensic training
  • Merchandise, multiple case library, subscription model

THREATS

  • Big players could clone the concept (Netflix, Meta)
  • Platform policy changes (WhatsApp/Instagram API restrictions)
  • True crime fatigue in the market
  • AI regulation affecting virtual actor authenticity
  • Data privacy concerns with user communication data

Differentiation Mantra

"You are not playing a game. You are solving a case."

This single sentence encapsulates everything Cold Case Quest stands for. Every brand decision, every visual element, every word choice must reinforce this distinction. We are not entertainment — we are investigation.

SECTION 04

Brand Archetype

Explorer + Outlaw — the detective personality

🔍 Explorer (Primary)

Motivation: "Discover the truth, wherever it leads."

The Explorer seeks freedom to find answers. In Cold Case Quest, the detective explores the truth — never resting until the case is closed. This archetype drives the curiosity that makes someone pick up a case file and the determination to see it through.

Visual Expression: Dark colors with blue discovery flashes, curious tone, constant progress sensation, discovery animations, evidence reveals.

🔥 Outlaw (Secondary)

Motivation: "Break the rules to find the truth."

The Outlaw hacks, investigates outside official channels, calls suspects at 3 AM. BambiJupiter embodies this archetype. It adds edge, danger, and the sense that the detective is operating outside the system — which makes it feel more real and more urgent.

Visual Expression: Glitch effects, terminal UI, morally ambiguous choices, hacker aesthetic, electric blue accents, system messages.

Archetype Expression by Moment

SECTION 09

Tone of Voice

The voice of a modern noir detective — serious, direct, mysterious, cinematic, authoritative

The Five Principles of CCQ Voice

"The clock is ticking. The suspect knows you're close."
"Oh no! The bad guy is getting away, let's catch him!"

🔴 SERIOUS — Crime is not a game. Every word carries weight. Even marketing copy must feel grounded in reality.

"Three missed calls. One text message. One name: Victor."
"We would like to inform you that you have received several communications from a contact."

🎯 DIRECT — Short sentences. No wasted words. Detectives don't have time for fluff. Every sentence serves the investigation.

"Victor's alibi has a hole. The exact size of a lie."
"It might be possible that, depending on certain unspecified factors, there could be some inconsistencies."

🌑 MYSTERIOUS — Create intrigue. Reveal information gradually. Force the detective to lean in, to read between the lines.

"The walls of Sofia's apartment held a secret the police never found."
"The victim's apartment contained some items that could be relevant to our investigation."

🎬 CINEMATOGRAPHIC — Every sentence should feel like a thriller. Paint a picture. Create atmosphere. Noir mood in every word.

"I've seen this pattern before. The killer always returns to the scene."
"According to our research, it might be possible that the perpetrator could potentially revisit the location where the incident occurred."

🎓 AUTHORITATIVE — We know what we're talking about. Confident, experienced. No hedging, no passive voice, no doubt.

Motion Design Principles

Transition Timing

Standard: 400-600ms · ease-out
Micro-interactions: 200ms · ease
Page transitions: 500ms · fade + subtle scale

Hover Effects

Buttons/CTAs: 200ms ease · Brightness or glow
Cards: 300ms ease · Border highlight + translateY(-2px)

Evidence Discovery

Animation: 500ms staggered · Fade in from left
Sound: Subtle chime or typewriter click

NEVER USE

  • ❌ Bounce, elastic, or spring animations
  • ❌ Flash, strobe, or rapid pulsing
  • ❌ Wobble, jello, or cartoonish effects
  • ❌ Auto-playing video with sound
  • ❌ Parallax that breaks usability
  • ❌ Confetti, sparkles, or celebration effects
  • ❌ Unnecessary decorative motion

Approved Micro-Animations

  • ✓ Evidence card revealing (slide-in left)
  • ✓ Blue glow pulse on CTAs
  • ✓ Terminal cursor blink (monospace areas)
  • ✓ Message received notification (slide-down)
  • ✓ Progress bar advancement
  • ✓ Verdict reveal (typewriter effect)

SECTION 15

Logo Misuse Guide

Protecting the integrity of the Cold Case Quest mark

✅ Correct Usage

❌ Prohibited Usage

  • ❌ Do not stretch, squash, or deform proportions
  • ❌ Do not change logo colors — use only approved palette
  • ❌ Do not rotate the logo
  • ❌ Do not add shadows, gradients, outlines, or effects
  • ❌ Do not place on busy, textured, or low-contrast backgrounds

SECTION 16

Marketing Channels

Where detectives discover Cold Case Quest

📸 Instagram

Primary channel for discovery and engagement. Case teasers, character reels, evidence reveals, user testimonials, story polls. Vertical 9:16 content.

🎵 TikTok

Viral reach and trend-driven content. Short suspense clips, "POV: you're a detective" format, suspect call reactions, streamer clips.

🎮 Twitch

Live investigation streams. Partner with true crime and mystery streamers for sponsored case solves. Chat participates in real-time.

📹 YouTube

Long-form content. Case trailers (60-90s), full investigation VODs, "behind the evidence" breakdowns, streamer highlight compilations.

💬 Reddit

Community building. r/UnresolvedMysteries, r/TrueCrime, r/ARG — authentic engagement, AMAs, case discussion threads.

📧 Email

Retention and cross-sell. Case assigned (post-purchase), case closed, new case alerts, investigation tips in-character.

🔍 Google / SEO

Intent-driven acquisition. Keywords: "interactive true crime", "solve a murder online", "detective experience", "true crime game" (with vocabulary caveats).

📱 WhatsApp / Telegram

Core delivery platform. Not a marketing channel — the investigation happens here. But word-of-mouth spreads through forwarded messages.

SECTION 17

Brand Governance

Rules, approvals, and quality control that protect the brand

Guiding Principles

  1. Absolute immersion — Never break the fourth wall. The detective is always a detective.
  2. Visual consistency — Dark mode always. Exact colors from this palette. No exceptions.
  3. Brand voice — Detective noir. Serious, cinematic, direct. Never playful or frivolous.
  4. Controlled vocabulary — Use only approved terms. Never "game," "player," "level," "win."
  5. Quality over quantity — Less content, better content. Every piece must serve the investigation.
  6. Respect for victims — Fictional cases only. Never trivialize real tragedies. Ethical true crime.
  7. In-character always — All communications (including support) stay in-universe as much as possible.
